Can a self-completed will be legally valid in Ireland?
Yes, where it suits your circumstances and the legal requirements are met. Your signature must be made or acknowledged in the presence of two witnesses together, and both must sign in your presence. Gifts to witnesses or their spouses or civil partners can be invalid. See the Irish signing rules.
When is a solicitor the better choice?
Seek individual advice if you are married or civil partnered, cohabiting and unsure of inheritance rights, have a blended family, overseas assets, a farm or business, complex trusts or tax needs, a vulnerable dependant, or an anticipated dispute. Use the will chooser if this pack may not fit.
